Week in Review

This ‘n’ That

It’s growing more and more difficult to find interesting content to post each week. The news is no longer news, but merely opinion, no matter what the source. Christians articles often seem to be laden with law or encouraging a strange, unbiblical disunity among believers with very little Christlikeness demonstrated.

Cancel culture has infiltrated the church and professing Christians who decry the practice in the secular world are now at the forefront of “canceling” fellow Christians who disagree with them on secondary or tertiary issues. This comes through in much of the content shared online.

It’s all so wearying, isn’t it? Christ’s church is hard to find among the fractured, distasteful swarms of professing Christians. It often seems there is no refuge from this world, even though the church should be that very place of retreat.

I suppose it all serves to make us long for our heavenly home. “For we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come (Hebrews 13:14).”

You shouldn’t be surprised to see, then, that this week’s round-up is a bit skinny. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this week in review (kind of):

  • I don’t know why, but I found this amusing.
  • “Unlike other races we may run in life, the race of faith has already been won for us by Jesus Christ, our Savior.”
  • I’m glad to see this father is raising his son right. Go Cubs!
  • Here’s your weekly dose of adorable.
  • Just a reminder that lilies are deadly to cats, so keep them away from your fur babies!

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God ; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

John 14:1-3 (NIV 84)
