Week in Review

This ‘n’ That

Well, Christmas 2019 is behind us and 2020 looms ahead. Time flies when you’re…well, time just flies, I guess. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas celebrating with your family and friends.

I’m sure it comes as no surprise when I say I have a rather short list for you today. This is hardly the time of year to spend too much time online, wasting precious moments that can be spent actually living life instead! In fact, many of today’s links are Christmas-y, because sometimes you just can’t box up the holiday too quickly after the stroke of midnight.

So, with no further ado, please sit back and enjoy your final 2019 week in review (kind of):

  • I may have posted this same article last year, but it’s worth considering again the “mega joy” of Christmas.
  • This was my favorite Christmas special as a kid!
  • Here’s your weekly dose of adorable.
  • On the glory of Christmas.
  • The world’s smallest gingerbread house was created by scientists?
  • Aw, I hope this puppy has been adopted!
  • The SBC has an abuse issue on its hands, and people are watching how they handle it. Let’s also not be naïve and think the same thing isn’t happening in other churches—both within denominations and outside. Yes, such atrocities can even happen at your local nondenominational “community” church.
  • Ligonier shares their list of Bible reading plans for 2020.
  • Tragic. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
  • Another short, interesting biography from Simonetta Carr.

If the eyes of the Lord will be upon us his people, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, what shall we do? Why, let us be as happy as we can during this year. You have your trials and troubles to come — do not expect that you will be free from them. The devil is not dead, and sparks still fly upward. Herein is your joy, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ will never leave you nor forsake you.

Charles Spurgeon
