Week in Review

This ‘n’ That

I tried in vain this morning to formulate a few witty sentences to introduce this week’s post. Let’s face it, sometimes you just run out of wit. I’m hoping mine is just playing a game of hide and seek and forgot to tell me. Or maybe it’s hibernating. It is winter after all. Of course, there is a small part of me that fears that I’ve lost “the favor.” I plan to test this later today with a trip to the mall. If I find a close parking space, I’ll know I’m still in the good graces of Joel Osteen’s toothy-smiled false and abominable god. If not, well, I’ll have no choice but to remove the curse with a good, hearty tithe. So while I lament the loss of my favor and wit, I hope you’ll enjoy your week in review (kind of):

  • Speaking of mega-churches, it’s really kind of pathetic that we now have “trailers” for our sermon series. Don’t argue against the accusation that you’re only seeking to entertain goats when your approach to Sunday morning is the same as Hollywood’s approach to the latest “blockbuster” film. Case in point: the newest trailer for Elevation Church’s Christmas sermon series.
      • Oh, goody! T.D. Jakes has been confirmed for Steven Furtick’s Code Orange Revival! Why do I feel like a new club is being formed…and it has an elephant for a mascot? Stay tuned, I’m sure there will be more to say on this in the weeks to come.
